Copenhagen

Here we are in Copenhagen. It's a very delightful city. Very clean, very European and was full of people all wanting Denmark to beat the Netherlands in the World Cup. While that didn't happen, the Danish remained upbeat and very hospitable. This picture with Hillary and Lori was taken in one of the many, many squares in downtown Copenhagen. While you can't see it in this picture, bike riders dominate Copenhagen. They are everywhere, which is really quite good in that they don't consume petrol! It's very easy to be hit by one of these riders, however!

This was a remarkable building, not because of it's architecture, but the fact that the side of it was totally inhabited by multi-colored plants. We couldn't figure out if they were vines, pots, wave type plants, but we expect that in about a month they will be beautiful. We also must tell you that it felt about 30 below zero while we were in Copenhagen. Unseasonably cold, so who knows why these plants had any color. Maybe they are native!
The other noticeable characteristic of Copenhagen is its multi-colored buildings. Like the plants. These were located on the harbor across from where we ate on our first night. Hillary had fried pork (tasted like bacon), I had salted beef (tasted like bacon) and Lori had Salmon (didn't take like bacon). But we also had their special mix of herbal schnaaps. The waitress brought us two bottles; one was water. She told us she had to put a lot of water in the shot size glass because the schnaaps was 100 proof. Tasted wonderful:)

This is classic Copenhagen. Coats, scarves, hat, happy smiles, harbor, mix of both old and newer buildings, church steeples...and what you can't see but must appreciate...our next move, which was to run to an ice cream shop! We have been eating ice cream everyday. Intermingled by cinnamon rolls. (They don't call them "danish" for nothing.)
